Annie Morro is thrilled to work with the students of Summit! A teaching artist and performer, Annie studied various styles throughout her youth until spinal surgery forced her out of the dance studio. In search of a means to continue dancing despite limited movement, Annie discovered acting and theatre dance while performing with the Young Americans. With this volunteer-based international outreach program, Annie toured throughout Europe and Asia, bringing music and dance to students of under-funded schools. Upon returning to the United States, Annie studied at the University of Washington, pioneering the new Musical Theatre Program, and received her B.A. in Musical Theatre and a minor in Dance. Since graduation, Annie has taught dance and theatre classes throughout Seattle and the Eastside. She has taught for the UW’s Department of Dance, choreographed for local theatre groups, and directed productions for young actors. Annie’s performance credits include the 5th Avenue Theatre’s Mamma Mia!, Kiss Me, Kate, and Man of La Mancha, Village Theatre’s My Fair Lady, Seattle Opera’s The Magic Flute, Tzeitel in Aurora Theatre Company’s Fiddler on the Roof, Charity in UW Musical Theatre’s Sweet Charity, and countless appearances with the UW Dance program.
